Thinking of you today dearest Dwight...and wishing so much I could be there at your memorial with your family and your friends. You always felt like a part of our family since we got to know you in Saigon, and then have so many wonderful memories of your trips to Washington DC....you are so missed............

I have just met Dwight Davis in the Three Great Books of Dr. Tom Dooley. What a wonderful adventure - how proud you must be of him. Best wishes to his extended family as they commemorate a life greatly lived.

I miss you very much my friend! You have brought so much joy and laughter in my life! You have encouraged me in times I was very low and amazed me with your talents! You taught me so many things about America and some Spanish words. You will always always be in my heart. Hugs and kisses, Holly.

Message from Rufus and Barbara Phillips

Our deepest condolences to Elaine, Elizabeth and Kathleen. Both of us have the fondest memories of Dwight and we will miss him greatly. Rufus first got to know him in Laos in the 1957-58 period when he and Earl Rhine were helping Tom Dooley. Then in 1962 when Rufus was recruiting provincial representative to serve with the Saigon AID Mission’s Office of Rural Affairs, Dwight and Earl were among the first to volunteer. In Vietnam, we got to know Dwight well through Rural Affairs social gatherings and for his splendid work in the field. Dwight had a friendliness and special elan about him which endeared him to the Vietnamese and the Montagnards he was helping. He was truly representative of the best our country has to offer. Then none of us who were there can ever forget Dwight singing duets with John O’Donnell while John played the ukulele in Vietnam and later during Rural Affairs reunions in the U.S. Barbara and I last saw Dwight during a visit to Seattle in 2010 when we also saw Jean and Bert Fraleigh in Sequim. He was his always gracious, generous and humorous self. We felt a fondness for him that will never diminish in our hearts. Even though he has left us our memories of him remain warm and vivid. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him in the Rural Affairs family and beyond.

My dad (John O'Donnell) and Dwight were good friends. I have many fond memories. I always thought your dad had such a warm and welcoming smile. Dads leave a big whole in our hearts when it is their time to go, I am sorry for your loss. May you all find the peace I am sure he would want for you.

My condolences. God promises that one day we will no longer experience the pain and suffering of losing our loved ones (Revelation 21:4) and those whom we have lost, we will see again (John 5:28,29). I hope that you can find hope in this loving promise and comfort in these words.

I knew Dwight since the time we worked for Rural Affairs in Vietnam. In September 2012, I called to invite him to the reunion in Westminster, Ca in which at that time, he was unable to. Dwight was a good friend and we will all miss him dearly.

My deepest sympathies,
Isabel Le

Dwight: Although we lost track of each other after I departed OEO in Texas, you left a huge impression in my life. Whenever I come into my office I have a reminder of you hanging on the wall. It is my certificate of my solo flight at Ragsdale Airport in Austin, Texas where we worked together and because of you I learned to fly. We spoke a few years back by phone and recalled some great moments we shared in life, especially working the border towns helping the disadvantaged and migrant workers. You will be missed my friend, Dimas M. Chavez

Dwight was such a good friend of my husband, John (passed away in 2003) and of mine as well. I haven't heard from him in such a long time, I'm just sorry this had to be the news that I now receive. May he rest in peace with our Father God and may you all experience the comfort of knowing that Dwight was a good friend in many ways.

My deepest sympathies, Sharon O'Donnell

Kathleen, I am so sorry for the loss of your father.🕯 I am president/founder of a Fund in the name of Dr. Tom Dooley 🕊- I have worked closely with those who knew him so that this effort honors his wishes. Does Earl Rhine still live? If so, would you kindly pass him my email - he would appreciate what 58 years non-stop has brought in Dr. Dooley's honor. I spent 1998-2002, 4 years, in Monte Carlo counseled by an American who was advisor to all the Kings of Asia who honored Dr. Dooley + who valued his humanitarian work. Your father + Earl Rhine were honored with The Order of a Million Elephants & The White Parasol that Dr. Dooley received. God Blessed you with a good father.📿🙏
