On the morning of July 27, 2015, Adele Marie "Cam" Campbell Ward passed away peacefully in her sleep.  Adele was born on February 13, 1921 to Fannie Barnecut of West Seattle and Alphonse Joseph Campbell of Philadelphia.  Cam attended Holy Rosary Grade School, West Seattle High School, and graduated from Seattle University in 1943.  Cam, a natural athlete, was a member of Seattle University's Hiking Club and enjoyed playing football, tennis and golf.  Cam was employed by Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, The Army Engineers, and after her children were grown she became an Adult Education ESL teacher with San Diego Public Schools.

Cam met her future husband, Johnny Ward, through her closest friend, Alberta Grieve Ward.  She and Johnny married on February 2, 1947, raised six children in Seattle and celebrated 62 years of marriage before Johnny's passing in 2009.

Cam loved learning and passed that love onto her children and grandchildren.  She was the consummate listener, never asserting her voice over the voices of others.  Cam was happiest when surrounded by her family and close friends.

Cam is survived by her children, Ann Ward, John Ward (Barbara), Sheila Ward, Kathleen Ward, son-in-law Terry Boden, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Cam was preceded in death by her sister Josephine Rose, husband Johnny, daughters Adele Boden and Colleen Ward, and daughter-in-law Anne Hennessey.

Although our dear Cam will be so deeply missed, we hope her legacy of kindness, compassion and  humor will live on in our hearts and lives.  The Ward family extends our deepest gratitude to the skilled and caring staff at Providence Mount St. Vincent, and the exceptional Home Instead care-givers who loved and cared for our mother during the last years of her life.

A Mass of Resurrection will be said at Providence Mount St. Vincent Chapel on Saturday, August 1st at 10:00a.m., with reception to follow in the dining room. Providence Mount. St. Vincent is located at 4831 35th Avenue SW, Seattle  98126.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation.
