Billie Lorraine King

January 26, 1925 ~ May 18, 2016 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 18, 2016 at Swedish Medical Center.  Billie was born in Kalama, Washington on January 26, 1925 to Alice (Comer) Weeks and Ward Weeks.  She moved with her parents to Vancouver at a young age and graduated from High School and Medical Secretarial School.

During WWII Billie served in a secretarial capacity at the USO and was also employed in clinical records for the local veteran's hospital.  On June 22, 1947 she married the love of her life Paul E. King and they soon moved to Seattle in 1948.  He completed his BA in engineering at the University of Washington and went to work for Boeing as a logistics engineer.  Billie continued to work as a medial secretarial until 1950 when their first baby girl was born.  Billie was very involved in her children's lives, joining the PTA and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years.  She and Paul also were very involved in their community until Billie became a full time care giver for her Mother.  Billie and Paul were members of the "Bremerton Kansas club" for more than 20 years whose fellowship they enjoyed very much.  Billie was a lifelong member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, division Clara Barton Tent #1.  Family's membership going back many generations.

Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty plus years Paul, her parents Alice (Weeks) Parker and Ward Weeks, step--parents Clarence Parker and Hazel Weeks and her son-in-law Vernon Powelson, and many other family members and friends too numerous to mention.

She is survived by her daughters Jeannene Rodruck (Richard) and Julianne Powelson, grandson Aaron Powelson (Jennifer) great-grandchildren Kyla and Jason Powelson, nephew Douglas King (Satsuko) great-nephew Kenji King (Jennifer) their two sons, and many cousins, extended family and friends.

Billie lived in West Seattle Sixty Six years and will be dearly missed by many, we ask in lieu of flowers you consider making a donation in her name to the Seattle Foundation of the Blind, Seattle American Veterans Association or Seattle Humane Society.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Seattle 6701 30th Ave SW Seattle, WA  98126.  At 2:00pm on Friday May 27, 2016 with reception to follow at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
