Jennifer Graham Obituary

Jennifer Lynn Graham, the bright light loved by so many, left this world on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Jenny was born on April 26, 1972, the youngest child of Marilyn and Peter Graham. She grew up on Mercer Island, in Issaquah, and in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle. She was a Job’s Daughter, embracing her grandfather Calvin Behle’s Mason traditions, and, as with her older sister Beth, sang in the Seattle Girls’ Choir. After briefly attending Seattle Preparatory School, Jenny graduated from Roosevelt High School. She continued on to the University of Washington, where she joined the Sigma Kappa sorority, and majored in Spanish.

During her time at the UW, Jenny worked at Azteca Restaurant, and became a regular at salsa nights at Latitude 47, Beso del Sol, and many others. She was a fluent Spanish speaker, and began traveling to Mexico regularly. After graduation, Jenny returned to her beloved Mexico to live full-time in Guadalajara, with dreams of teaching and serving the community.

While living in Guadalajara in February of 1995, Jenny was involved in a devastating car accident, and permanently brain damaged as a result. While her brain function was severely impacted by the accident, nothing could crush her beautiful, bright, vibrant, and almost preternaturally strong spirit. She became a beloved member of the Providence Mount St. Vincent family, where the residents, care givers, and her therapists cherished their time with her. She remained in the outstanding care of The Mount until her death.

Those who knew her before her accident remember her as outgoing, brilliant, a fiercely devoted friend, and hilariously funny — with a one-of-a-kind quick, biting wit that one high school friend referred to as being “Jenn’d.”

Those who knew her after the accident remember her as spirited, funny, music-loving, and full of joy, despite her many injuries.

Those who knew her both before and after loved, and now deeply mourn, the girl and woman they grew up with, and the woman she became after her accident.

Jenny is proceeded in death by her beloved mother, Marilyn Behle Graham, and her devoted father, Peter Hugh Graham. She is survived by her older sister Beth Inghram (husband Paul, and daughters Anna and Catherine), and her older brother Steve Graham (wife Kathleen and son Colin).

A memorial to the beautiful life of our Jenny will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 am, at Providence Mount St. Vincent, 4831 35th Ave SW, Seattle, in the 3rd floor chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jenny’s name to Providence Mount St. Vincent.
