Dorothy was born into the Leon Maurice family in Annandale Minnesota on February 8th 1924 and lived at that location until she was 18. Her father Leon Maurice came out west to work on Alaskan HI way to pay bills back home. When he heard Boeing was hiring people he called his wife Anna Maurice Dorothy’s Mother, to send Dorothy out to Seattle and Boeing Hired her as a “Bucker” in Boeing Manufacturing of Air planes to support the WWII effort. She then promoted herself to “Rivetor”. She lived with her Dad in his basement apartment on Boylston st. until he went back to get his wife, Dorothy’s mother. When they returned they stayed in a motel Kolse on Aurora until they bought the house on Morgan Street in West Seattle. Dorothy stayed with Cliff and Alice (Grandpa’s Cousins) in Ballard until her Mom and Dad came back from Minnesota.
Dorothy met her husband David at Boeing and later married, had four daughters while living in the South Seattle and West Seattle area where they eventually bought a home in 1954 and raised their four girls there.
That is where decades of memories developed into a full life of 94 years.
Following our Grandmother’s Passing (Dorothy’s Mother), the family considered our mother (Dorothy) to be the Matriarch of the Maurice family. She had 6 Brothers and 1 sister. All their offspring, our cousins, loved her and honored her values to stay connected and interact with each other as a family. All of our friends were her friends, and she blessed us all every time we came to visit her.. she was always cooking up a storm and prepared to entertain at a moments notice. She was very generous and caring to all of us.
