I just did a search for Chelly as I was getting my Christmas Card list together for 2018. We didn’t get a card from him last year for the first time in many many years and I suspected something amiss. He was a very special person and a good friend to my parents, Bernie & June Sherwood. For years they gathered in Kauai at their condos at Sunset Kahili and I was blessed to be there at times. My folks have been gone now for many years but we have cherished the cards we got from Chelly for so many Christmases. He was a prince and we loved him. Thank you for sharing him with this Alaskan family. We miss him.

Dear John,
I did not know Chelly but your beautiful obituary makes me wish I had. He was a remarkable man and your family was blessed to have him as the patriarch. It seems he lived his life with great dignity, grace and love.
I pray you find solace in your family members, your memories and your faith.
