Garnette passed away peacefully at home with her husband of 59 years by her side.
She was born in in Helena, Montana to Garnet and Oliva "Frenchy" Lupien. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949 and briefly attended State College in Havre, Montana.
While working for Kaiser Aluminum in Spokane, she lived in Liberty Lake, Washington. In 1959, while working for the Glen Martin Company in Denver, Colorado, she met and married her beloved husband, Charles E Van Valkenburg.
During many relocation's around the country two children were born in Florida and two children born in Washington State.
Garnette was very involved with her church, Holy Rosary Parish as well as many Catholic charities and organizations. She was an avid reader and loved bingo. She also devoted much of her time loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Garnette is survived by her loving husband, Charles E Van Valkenburg ; her four children, Diane, Charles Jr., Deborah and Donna; her sister Diana Chenkovich; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Garnette's body will be interned in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Helena, Montana
