Alice was born to Orville C. Wilson and Alice G. Wilson in Seneca, Kansas. She moved at five years old to Missoula, Montana where she attended Saint Anthony's Catholic School and Willard Grade School. She was a great violinist & performed on the radio and at Wilma Theatre in Missoula until moving to Seattle, WA in 1942 where her father was employed at the shipyards during World War II. She attended Madison Jr. High and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1947.
After graduating, Alice hired on to her first job at Peoples National Bank and continued working until her first son was born in 1951. She returned in 1965 as Pacific National Bank merged into First Interstate Bank, and later retired in 1990 as Assistant Manager after 25 years of employment. Alice married in 1949 to Glenn R. Ekoes at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle. They had 5 children; Dan, Diane, Donna, David, and Jennifer. Her daughters Diane Goetz and Donna Ekoes pre-deceased her. She later re-married to her second husband Jerry Crawford in 197, who later passed on in 1991.
Alice was a Den Mother for Boy Scouts and a Brownie/Girl Scouts Leader as well. Known for her pies, Alice celebrated each of her children's birthdays with their favorite pie and was lovingly nicknamed the "Pie Lady". She was a member of Holy Rosary Chuch for 74 years. There, she participated in the choir and served on the funeral reception commmittee for over 22 years. She loved singing with the Puget Sound Sweet Adeline's during the 1970's.
In her later years, Alice taught line dancing for over 18 years in the Spice program at Madison Jr. High School and at the West Seattle Senior Center. She was a member of TOPS weight loss organization, West Seattle Alumni Assn., Pinochle Club, poker groups, and loved playing Bridge and Canasta.
Alice will be remembered most for her unconditional love of family & friends. She is survived by her sons, Dan and David Ekoes, daughter, Jennifer Mattingly, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildre, and 1 great-great grandchild.
A celebration of life Memorial Mass will be held on May 11 , 2019 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Parish with an on-site reception following. In lieu of flowers, please consider either a contribution to the church or to the American Diabetes Association. Private burial will be at Holyrood Cemetery with family only at her graveside.
