Dear Friends,

Our hearts go out to the families whose loved ones have died from the coronavirus and to all those affected by the recent changes due to COVID-19. We extend our appreciation to the healthcare community for all they are doing to protect us. I pray that God will comfort those who grieve, protect those who are on the front lines, and grant wisdom and discernment to our elected leaders.

After reviewing the most recent proclamations from the Governor, the following restrictions are in effect for Washington State:

For counties in Phase 2:

Indoor and outdoor occupancy is limited to 30 guests or 25% of maximum building capacity whichever is less, excluding staff working at the funeral. Our funeral home limit is 25 people during phase 2. Tahoma National Cemetery is limiting attendance to 25 guests.

For counties in Phase 3:

Indoor occupancy is limited to 50 guests or 25% of maximum building capacity whichever is less, excluding staff working at the funeral. Outdoor (Graveside) occupancy is limited to 200 people. Please speak with your funeral director and cemetery prior to planning your service as the indoor occupancy will vary based on number of households present and the ability to maintain social distance, and individual cemeteries may have a more limited capacity. Tahoma National Cemetery is limiting attendance to 25 guests.

We know this is a time of uncertainty for everyone and we want you to know that your safety is top of mind and that you can still support families and friends during a time of loss. Funeral, memorial, and celebration events help start the healing process. Please make an extra effort to support those that have lost a loved one during this unusual time. Your support is now more important than ever. We encourage supporting families via on-line condolences on our web site www.howden-kennedy.com, and calling families on the phone or video chat.

If you have recently lost a loved one, or will soon, our team is here for you. To assist those who have travel restrictions or health concerns, and to comply with public health guidance, we will be making most arrangements by phone. If you prefer to make arrangements in person, please call ahead for an appointment and one of our licensed funeral directors will assist you. Every situation can and will be accommodated.

Losing a friend or family member is never easy. We are aware that these unsettling times can amplify feelings of grief and anxiety. Please know that we are here for anything you may need to honor life, support loved ones, and begin the healing process. The safety and well-being of you, your family, and your friends is of the utmost importance. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at (206) 932-0356. We are available 24/7.

Sincerely,

Russ Weeks, President
