Robert Anthony Romeo was born December 28, 1954 in Seattle, Washington to Carlo and Helen Romeo. He was the 3rd son.  He passed away August 24, 2016 after a courageous fight against melanoma.  He was 61 years old.

Bob spent all but a few years of his life on Beacon Hill and would describe himself as Beaconese.  He went to St. George Catholic Grade School where he was an altar boy and challenged many of his teachers.  During one parent teacher conference, his mom and dad were told by one teacher what a joy he was to have in their class but then another one would say how difficult he was.  Upon graduating, he was awarded a scholarship to O'Dea High School for having the highest entrance test score.  There he made many friends and was yell leader for the football and basketball teams.  He was elected Student Body President.  He was extremely popular and was well known by the girls at Holy Names Academy.  He knew not only the ones in his grade but many from other classes.  He attended many Tolos and Proms during his Junior and Senior year.  After graduating he went to work at UPS and started college at University of Washington.  He joined a fraternity and would go on to make more lifelong friends.  He graduated with a BA and Master of Education.   He spent several years teaching 1st and 2nd grade. One of his most proud achievements was knowing that almost all of the children he taught would graduate high school and go on to college.  While still working at UPS, he continued his education at Seattle Central Community College and graduated with a degree in Apparel Design. He used those skills to work at Eddie Bauer, JPR, and make Halloween costumes for his niece and nephews, and many other odds and ends for family and friends.  Bob retired from UPS with 40 years.  While working at the front desk, helping people with mailing or picking up their packages, he would try to make the customer feel good..He would also make more lifelong friends while working there.

Bob had a deep love for the theatre. He attended operas, live theatre performances and the ballet.  He had season tickets to all of them, and would find other productions to go to.  There was never a week that went by that he was not seeing something or at least so it seemed.  Many of his siblings were lucky enough to attend a production or two with him.  In this part of his life, he again made many lifelong friends.

Bob was creative, whether is was the way he would repurpose items in his yard or his unlimited ideas when asked how best to do something.  If you were in search of some specific item, many times Bob would run over to his house and come back with it or something else that would work just as well.

When Bob retired 2 years ago, he had hoped to travel.  He did make a trip to Spain and Italy last year with his brother Chuck and Chuck's fiance' Heidi and enjoyed every moment. He talked about taking the train to Chicago and going to a play or two there.  He was also talking about another trip to Europe to see Germany.

In his last weeks, Bob came to stay at his sister Maria's house. There he was kept comfortable and was able to spend time with his family and friends.  His sister Maria closely watched over him, with help from his sister Helen, brothers Rick and Chuck, sister-in-law Dana, Heidi, brother-in-law Greg and Providence Hospice of Seattle.  He had special care from Ejynsu, his CNA.  He enjoyed visits from his nephews, nieces and many friends.  Bob will be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlo and Helen Romeo, brother Carlo,Jr., and great nephew Hank Galaviz Claeys.  He is survived by his siblings Rick (Dana Sullivan), Diana (Demeco Williams) Chuck (Heidi McPherson), Maria, and Helen (Greg Kessler); nephews James Claeys (Julie Bolene), Chris Claeys (Mariah Galaviz), Brandon Romeo, and Blake Kessler and nieces Alyssa Romeo, Renee Sullivan and great nephew Bennett and cousin Coreo (Cori) Halverson.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Seattle ACT Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre , Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet or any charity of your choosing.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at 11 AM at St George Catholic Church located at 5306 13th Ave S, Seattle, WA  98108.  A Celebration of Life will follow in the school hall located at 5117 13th Ave S, Seattle,WA  98108
