Marian R. VanSteenvoort
December 6, 1922 ~ August 31, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years OldMarian R. VanSteenvoort of West Seattle passed away quietly on August 31, 2015. She was born in Devils Lake, ND on December 6, 1922. Marian graduated from high school in Crary, ND where her family had a business, later moving to Weset Seattle. She became a registered nurse (RN) graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Devils Lake, ND. She later graduated from the University of Washington obtaining her BSN.
Marian was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy during WWII and was later recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict serving for a total of nine years in the US Navy. She obtained the rank of LT in the Naval Reserve.
During her many years in Seattle area worked as an RN at various facilities as a Public Health Nurse and an operating room nurse. After retiring, she became an avid gardener, lover of dogs and a volunteer at the Seattle Zoo. She often traveled back to North Dakota to visit family and friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents Clara (Vanderlin) and Joe VanSteenvoort; her brothers Edward, Don and Joseph and nephew and niece Ted and Cheryl. She is survived by nephews; Don, Tom, Scott and Brett.
Interment will be at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
