'King' was a wonderful man! We knew him best during the 1970's, while he served our state. One of our family members was even honored to serve King as a Page Member, in Olympia. After King's Political days, he even worked in our own family business, for a time. King was a fine, honorable and trusted man. Our politics sometimes were apposed; but, we always both came out as winners with mutual respect and a brotherly love for one another.

Though decades and living life have separated us, our family will always hold the same brotherly love for King.

Our Many thoughts & prayers go out to Toni and her kin; We do personally know of the pain, during this time of great loss.

King was truly the "king" of your personal lives!

With our heart felt emotion,
Mark Swezea and Tommie Swezea

Learning of King's exit has stirred many memories of what a powerful formative influence he had on my life. First, by staking the strong stances he did on public power and the Port of Seattle and WPPSS he created the idea of a politician with whom I was mission-aligned. And then taking on legislative leaders and the largest local bank on the corrupt contract - the biggest in the state's history at that time - issued for constructing the Issaquah class ferries. What learning one gains about power, and the abuse of it, when one is involved in challenging it, in the way King continually was. Then he, directly and through Ray, opened up some major learning, for me, via causes for which they invited me to work in organizing and communications in Alaska and Eastern Washington. Regret that I never said as much to King, from this vantage point nearly 40 years later, but pleased to share this with you Tony, and Ray, and the kids. Fine, gutsy man. See you later today.

I met King in the S.U. Grads' Reading Group. I always enjoyed his pleasant personality and his insightful reflections on the book of the month. May you be consoled in your grief, as you remember what a wonderful man he was, and how great his legacy of service to others is. I will be teaching down the road at Seahurst Elementary, but my thoughts and prayers will be with you in a special way Thursday.

Dear Mimi,

Thank you for your kind remarks. King did enjoy that SU book group.
I honor your teaching at Seahurst. We both were teachers initially. And, I began my short teaching career at Lake Burien Elementary...down the road from Seahurst Elem in 1968 while King was teaching at Federal Way HS.... so
many moons ago.

My best,

Toni

Mr. Lysen was an engineering teacher at Franklin HS when I was an engineering teacher at Garfield HS. For many years we shared activities and projects between us. He was a great teacher to work with. I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
