Wow. I had no idea of his sudden wish to watch over us from above. He was so funny, smart, charismatic, and selfless. I was one of the roommates with Gary when he was going through his Architecture degree program at Washington State University. Wendy was the Interior Design student and I was the Fine Arts student. We all had different schedules and very much enjoyed this arrangement to get us by through our coursework.
I remember when he fell asleep with fish sticks in the oven after a very late night studying in the Daggy Dungeon, which, in turn, set off the fire alarm around 2:00 a.m. We awoke to a smoke filled room and all apartment dwellers in a panic.
He was so meticulous about his Beatles album collection, especially the coveted limited edition un edited, untouched “White” album! We all enjoyed sharing music and details of the recordings and history. We were all into history in some facet; Gary architecture, Wendy building and interiors, and I the art/architecture.
His dry humor, smile, and selflessness is tough to follow as we do our best going forward.
Thank you, Gary, for your miles of smiles.

Sincere sympathy to Vicki and Gary's family. I met Gary at WSU and he was such a great friend...always smiling. He was very compassionate and when I was struggling in architecture, he was willing to help me out. I encouraged him to switch his major from architecture to interior design and I always told him, that if he ended up being famous, that I had some influence on that! lol I ran into him & Vicki at a couple of Coug games and was able to see his smiling face. Truly a great soul and I was glad to have had the chance to get to know such a great man.
